We’ve heard it before: The Fortune is in the Follow Up. And it’s true. Something so simple that provides real results time and time again is all too often neglected. Be responsive. Be responsible. In this day and age of hyperconnectivity, clients reach out via text, phone, email and web forms. All of those methods of communication typically lead right to that handy little device in your pocket. Yes, that same device that you check, on average, 80+ times a day. We’re all busy….that is not an issue only you experience. But do not give your customers or prospects a reason to look elsewhere. They were reaching out because they need you. That should mean something. Even if you’re tied up, take a brief moment to acknowledge their call or text. Send a quick response that indicates you received their message, you’re tied up (helping another customer) and you’ll get back to the as soon as possible. I cannot tell you how appreciated that is when you are on the receiving end. Simple.
There are too many choices for clients and prospects these days. If you’re not responsive, they’re going to the next person down the list of their Google search or their Yelp review. Stop them in their tracks. Show them you care…. A little effort could earn you a customer for life. Ignoring them could cost you a customer for life.
